David has been singing in choirs in Victoria since kindergarten, and grew up singing and playing the trombone all through university. Though he has occasionally been seen in opera choruses or busking with his barbershop quartet, most of David's recent singing has been with chamber choirs, including Vox Humana and VICC. David also works in IT for Island Health, and any leftover time is spent painting, playing board games, or chasing after his extremely energetic toddler.
Jarrett began studying music by taking up trombone in 6th grade as part of the school’s band program. Jarrett began singing in 9th grade when his music teacher convinced him and some of his male friends to join choir. He is originally from Qualicum Beach, B.C. and he was once Time Magazine’s person of the year! Jarrett enjoys French cooking, especially making French pastries.
Chris is a founding member of VICC, but was a band geek before becoming choir nerd. Singing in the choir was a later addition when a cute girl suggested he do so (but he stayed because of the singing). By the end of grade 9 he knew he wanted to become a music teacher. In his spare time, Chris enjoys spending time with this family, playing video games, and pondering the logistics of folding fitted sheets.
Like many choristers, Trip started singing in his church’s youth choir. A boy soprano in elementary school, he migrated through to the bass section by grade 11. He sat out choir his first year in university, but second year joined the college choir to spend more time with his cute new girlfriend. After graduation, family and work took over his life and choir fell by the wayside. When he moved to Victoria, however, he resolved to get back to singing and auditioned for the Linden Singers. He sang with Linden for almost 30 years but, seeking a smaller, primarily a cappella experience, he auditioned for and was delighted to be accepted by the Vancouver Island Chamber Choir. VICC is an extraordinary ensemble that has been fortunate to have been led by skilled and passionate directors; he is delighted to be singing with the Chamber Choir.
Jack started singing with a choir at Kalamazoo College, where he was taught that he could sing either tenor or bass. He has lived in several places, and in each has found a choir; Toronto Chamber Society and the Toronto Symphony Chorus. He has sung with several groups in Victoria, such as Soundings, Voces Intimae, and currently with Capriccio Vocal Ensemble. He loves the music, in all its varieties; so many composers, so little time! He's a retired college instructor, and enjoys having his family living in Victoria.
Luc has been singing since he joined choir at Campus View Elementary School, and grew up singing in school, church, and extra-curricular choirs. Luc owes any singing talent he has to the extremely gifted choir masters that taught him at St Dunstans Anglican Church, Eileen Cooper, Inez St. Denis, and Karen Hughes as well as the support of Rob Cooper. In the past decade, Luc has sung with CapriCCio Vocal Ensemble, Pacific Opera Victoria, Victoria Baroque Players, as well as numerous church choirs. When the Navy is not keeping Luc away from home he enjoys backpacking, gardening, acting, board games, and reading.
